What is the difference you might ask? The general term "boat" can include powerboats, rowboats, canoes, kayaks and tugs. A "yacht" also acts like a boat but generally it functions as a floatation device for the very rich. Or, if you prefer a more personal measure, a lady may wear heels on a yacht with some certainty she will not twist an ankle. Deck shoes are worn when boating. Don't say we didn't warn you.
