Modern maternity is not the bootie knitting, rocking chair, dreamy experience it once was (provided your lifestyle ever allowed for that). It is women in the workforce carrying within weeks of term then staying close to home in the most difficult period to prepare for the arrival.

We are not surprised that clothing designers have lept to fill the new niche of the public pregnancy with work, casual and dressy clothes for the mother-to-be in all of her roles.
