Glassware
The modern soda-lime-silica glass with small percentages of magnesia and alumina is what most people interact with today. The same mixture is also suitable for window manufacture. Where improved resistance to heat is desired (cookware), the inclusion of boron oxide in favor of soda increases the end product's dimensional stability which makes it less subject to stresses due to thermal expansion. You may know this type of glass by its special name: Pyrex. Advanced production methods allow manufacturers the freedom to create distinctive glassware in volume and in a variety of decorative styles.
